Ya know, I don’t really deal in “if only” very much, but… we’ll make an exception for this:
If I had a Leica M9, I would seriously consider selling off much of my accessory Nikon equipment and shoot Leica specifically.
Yes, I would do it. And if I had two digital Leica bodies? I might get rid of the rest of it.
I cannot express how much I love rangefinders.
But then again, how would I have taken this shot with all the remote flashes and fancy technology that Nikon gives me the freedom of using.
Oh well, its one of those trade-offs. As many of you know, all of photography is a trade-off. Want high sensitivity, you trade for grain. Want lots of depth-of-field, ya gotta trade those f/stops… which in turn trades for having to run slow shutter speeds.
Wanna use a Leica rangefinder, ya gotta give up all the versatility of the SLR… or even digital altogether.
But isn’t life like that, too? Wanna make lots of money, ya gotta give up time with your family and work long hours. Wanna drive that nice car, ya gotta give up some other stuff to be able to make the payments.
So, just a few thoughts. Oh, life…
…stay tuned.
