Sports are in full season yet again. I always thought last year would be my last year shooting for Harding… but they say you always come back to the mothership a few times.
But American football is one of the big things for the area. I guess we’re close enough to Texas or something…
The university is a major part of the community here – for better or for worse – and does want to do something to help out.
The Sunshine School, a school for handicapped children and adults, is building a new building… one donation at a time. So, to raise awareness of their situation, the school sent a number of children to participate in the coin-toss before today’s home game.
The mayor of Searcy, Belinda LaForce is at the far left. She was the actual tosser of the coin. I guess its similar to first pitch… I just couldn’t imagine anyone being really excited to take the “first hit of the game” or “first pass” during a football matchup.
Anyways… so that’s that. Last game for a few weeks, then they’re all day games… and that’s awesome.
Stay tuned,
