Fascinating to leave a place again that I have left many times already. Not just leaving it with an intention of going back… actually leaving it – without any intention of going back – but always finding myself back in that place.
There is so little finality anymore. We tell each other goodbye all the time, I don’t think anyone has any idea what it means to actually leave and never see or hear from a person ever again. Facebook killed that, effectively.
But I think there must be something said for serendipitously finding yourself back in a place over and over again. I’m not trying to be too touchy-feely with fatalism and such, but if you’re in a place (or with somebody) over and over again for no good reason… maybe there is a reason.
Lets not loose the art of the goodbye. Let’s appreciate the time we have with one another and in the places we go. It makes life more precious.
Take a chance, stay tuned…

PS: Photo is of Memphis on Beale Street. It was cold and the streets were abandoned, only the shopkeepers and bartenders trying to keep the door opened. As we walked by, there was a girl dancing on the bar of the Coyote Ugly to three guys.
I guess we’re all just walking by…
