Alright, judge me if you will, the O’Reilly 300 at the Texas Motor Speedway was actually kinda cool.
There isn’t many ways to say it: it was probably one of the loudest sustained things I’ve ever seen. It was deafening. Of course, wearing the requisite headsets that regular attendees use.
But it was actually kind of fun. In all honesty, I had picked my favorite based upon the fact the car was bright fluorescent yellow – Paul Menard – and I could see it all the way around the track. He did not do too badly. Didn’t win, but he finished top 5, I think.
From my seat:
As soon as I started tweeting about being there, I immediately got a half-dozen texts from my friends chiding me for my choice of entertainment for the evening.
Genuinely, pretty fun.
Because… after all, I was in Texas. No matter where you are, travel is travel and it is possible to experience culture even in your own back yard.
