So, last year I covered Spring Sing. Along with doing all the photography for the Playbill, for months I hung out with the cast and crew and photographed the whole production, largely from top to bottom.
Well… its back:
And so has begun my coverage.
The image above was taken with the 17-55/2.8, a lens with which I have had more published work than any other piece of equipment I own. But, it is fascinating how – every once in a while – I am reminded why it is such a integral part of my arsenal.
For that matter, I don’t own any piece of equipment I just don’t use. Everything has its place. Everything has its use.
But the 17-55/2.8 is just a little above the others.
The photo from yesterday – the one of the band – was taken at a rather modest f/9 at ISO100. This one today was taken completely wide open at f/2.8 at the midrange 1250 ISO. (Haha… 1250ISO is midrange!)
Two very different lighting environments and even two very different genres of photography but the lens holds its own in just about every respect. Funny thing, really, considering how old the 17-55/2.8 technology is now.
There’s just something very pretty about the way that lens behaves. I can’t imagine a better piece of equipment.
Well, that’s my random ramblings for today.
Hope you’ll stay tuned…
