The Burksy’s… or Burksee’s… or Burksie’s…?

So, tonight was my University’s big talent show slash variety show slash awards show. And, whatever goofy-ness you might think about a talent show, this one was done mighty well.

Between the MC’s performing little ditties, they had talent acts. Four of them.

And, honestly, they were all quite good!

But at the end of the night, a football player named Sando Davies took home the “Burksy” (kinda like an Oscar – but its a bobble-head of the university president) after performing his might-fine rendition of Timberlake’s “What Goes Around Comes Around”… but pretty much it sounded just like a John Legend or Seal remix.

As it is said… legit!

But between all that there were “awards.” Some of these were actual awards…

…like Favorite Professor:

But some were silly. Like… Most Awkward Freshman:

But the MC’s had also conceived and organized the whole ordeal, bringing me on to do their photography for the marketing and coverage of the whole event.

No doubt. They’re pretty good to me.

All-in-all, pretty good night.

I’ll probably be doing a little collection of photos with the portraits from the other day – the ones with the white backgrounds. It has been quite the humbling experience… I’ve never had photos LITERALLY ripped off the walls before. The photos were all blown up onto large posters – about 16 different ones – to advertise this thing and, seriously, people are stealing all of them off the walls!

But I guess that’s how the cookie crumbles this week. We’ll see about this coming week when I’ll be doing my first work for a new BIG client.

No lie, I’m excited.
