…yet I am thousands of miles away. But to me, this feels very much like “home.”
Somehow, Greece feels just as much of “home” as my University back in Arkansas ever did. I lived here 4 months in 2008 and everything feels just like I left it last month. Ah, nostalgia…
Granted, there are many new things. The Monastiraki Square has been opened up and there has been more work done in some of the archaeological sites. But look back in the archives on this blog and go back to my original experiences in Greece.
Some of the photos are of the same places… just a wee different.
Nevertheless, on this time around, I am less enamored by the places and more captivated by the people. Capturing the people and the essence of the culture…
…like the “worry beads” that most men carry around – jingling and spinning and twirling – or just counting over and over again.
I guess that other grand thing Greeks are known for – their public demonstrations – besides a loss of public transportation every now and then, its good to be back.
In fact, one old man handed me his camera and asked me to take a picture of him in front of this public demonstration promoting the PAME: the communist party supporters in Greece.
Anyways, its quite good to be back. I’ll be here for a few days… an indefinite time, really.
So, stay tuned,
