I would not advise it for something to do on a regular basis, but the past 36 hours have been “one of those days” that we – as sojourners – won’t forget very soon.
To make a long story short, though, we started the night in Paris’ Gare du Nord train station… because there were no rooms at the inn.
Literally, there were no vacant rooms in all of Paris. None. Its that time of year PLUS some sort of expo’s going on.
And to continue the long-short story… we ended up at a 24 hour diner outside Gare l’Est with a handful of Mexicans, an Italian butcher, and a woman who could just so happened to speak English, French, Spanish and Italian (who knows what else) until our train left from Gare de Lyon at 6:15am…
…to Marseilles.
There were quite a few moments where my sister and I looked at each other and could only laugh at how ridiculous and hilarious the situations we find ourselves in while traveling.
But what began in Paris…
…continued in Marseilles…
…finally to end in Barcelona, Spain.
Long way from Paris. Very different part of the world!
And here I sit, listening to the most amazing jackhammer in the world outside the window and someone cutting a hole in the wall one floor below us with a jigsaw…
…but you can only experience things like this while traveling.
So go do it. Don’t even think. Go into debt, beg and borrow or do whatever it takes… just get out there…
…and stay tuned.
