Wait… have I not already been in Morocco three days?
In fact, I have. Alas, I am just now arriving in Fes: the city in which MOST of it is considered a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Arriving in the afternoon, there is little more to do than to get settled in our riad (guesthouse) and wander aimlessly through the streets until we get hungry…
…like these cats. But I assure you, the food around here is a substantially better than a cockroach.
I typically try to shy away from phrases like, “This is the REAL Morocco” and such… but… I assure you: there’s already something special about this place I did not see in Tangier.
Whether it was because of the slightly more “touristy” day-trip attitude around Tangier or something about it lacking a “depth” I’ve experienced other places, I don’t know… but THIS place – Fes, Morocco – has that depth on the first few hours after arrival.
You’ll see. Stay tuned…
