Family Day at my church is one of those Easter Sunday kind of days. When everybody comes out of the woodwork to get there. College kids get home from university, grandparents come in from all over, etc… So, where the usual population is 300 on a good day, Family Day by the lake pushes close to 600.
And its a great opportunity for me to shoot around a bit and people don’t really mind. Doing it in real regular church is a little more conspicuous… trust me. Even the M8 isn’t that quiet.
Aside from all the numbers games brought by inflatable playthings for the kids and 13 tables full of food and amazing weather…
It really is a great little day for celebrating family.
It isn’t celebrated enough. Sure, births and birthdays and graduations and all that jazz is celebrated by everyone. But what about the little moments in between?
Graduation or a school play? That’s defining a kid about as much as defining the United States by describing New York City. All those quiet moments are like quiet towns… yeah there’s not all the much going on to write a headline about, but oh, the stories that could be told could fill volumes.
It goes without saying, don’t take your family for granted. But maybe it should be said: don’t take for granted the quiet moments of life… or the people with whom you share them.
Stay tuned…
