Rome, turned loose Leica…

As I mentioned yesterday, the Italy section of this journey is coming to a close. Since the flight is out of Rome, it seemed a shame to come all this way and not visit a little of the Eternal City. Especially because my two travel companions had never seen it before.

I love returning to cities like this. I’ve worn them out with the big DSLR’s a few times before. Why not go small and light and a little more restricted?

Indeed.

So the big D700 and the D7000 are put away for the day.

Brace yourself, image-laden post ahead. Not much to say. Just look.

Twas a rainy day in Rome.

The tones here are ridiculous, I couldn’t help but leave it in color. I can’t wait to print this big.

I’ve always been a little hesitant about dragging around a camera like the M8 in the pouring rain. Considering it is so compact, shortening the straps and wearing it under my jacket… like a champ.

If you’re at all interest in the technical side of these shots, I’m using Voigtlander lenses: a 35/1.4 Nokton, a 28/2 Ultron, and a 15/4.5 Heliar.

I love wide lenses like this with such little perceivable distortion…

And now for the red-eye to Athens. Back home. Stay tuned…
