Look up into the trees on a clear winter night. The light from those stars have travelled untold millions of years and unfathomable distances just to be blocked by a thing so frail as the upper limb of a tree branch. Such significant power, one of the multitudes which fill the heavens and have captivated eons of humanity, yields to the building blocks of a small bird’s nest.
We have a proclivity to forget that all of life is experienced by perspective. Oh, Master of the Universe and you who controls your own Destiny, please tell us how long the lowly dog did bark before you fed him? Yet as much as you might bark at it, the tree will not be moved to produce fruit out of season. Please, friend, prod the cattle to make it grow up faster and become fattened by tomorrow!
Tend the tree. Feed the calf. Make the bed that you lie in, and care for your lawn. You only make a fool of yourself barking at trees, and the other guy’s grass is greener because he took care of it.
Do not forget, though, that it was the minuscule twig that blocked the twinkling star for big ol’ you, unaware that it had done so. No matter how small you are, you can affect change… even the blocking of distant castings from the most powerful forces in existence.
So, what then is the most powerful force in nature… the formidable force or the ability to alter it? Remember this the next time you scold your yelping dog who then you immediately feed.
Stay tuned…
